7/30-8/1/15
I was scheduled to perform a safety audit for a project in Alexandria, VA, so Allison and I decided to make my work trip into a miniature vacation to Washington D.C. After a few wonderful plane delays, we arrived in D.C. in the middle of a massive storm, which delayed my safety audit. We rented a car and drove straight into the city, which has a lot of roundabouts and confusing intersections. Only got lost twice on the way to our hotel,
The Jefferson. By the way, I highly recommend that hotel.
Not a lot going on Day One since we didn't get in town until mid afternoon. Had dinner at a place I do not recall. It was fine.

Day Two started off swimmingly, as I went the wrong way down a one-way street during rush hour. Google Maps led me astray and let's just say that people were not happy with my mistake. I made it to Alexandria with no further mishaps and yada, yada, yada I returned my rental car to the airport and decided I would be Ubering the rest of the trip. Allison and I spent the afternoon checking out the Smithsonian. I learned that there is more than one Smithsonian, but you can guess which ones we went to.
Dinosaurs and
Space Ships, of course.

NO YOU CANNOT HAVE THAT DIAMOND! |

Life goal complete. |

Also saw a cool whale. |
We got to see a T-REX, along with other, slightly less cool, but still cool things, including a big whale, some diamonds, and the Apollo Lunar Module.
After finishing up in the museums, we walked around the
National Mall a bit and checked out the
Washington Monument and the
Lincoln Memorial, along with several other memorials that I do not have pictures of. We also stopped by the Capitol, but there was some work being done on the inside, so it was uneventful. We had dinner at
Old Ebbitt Grill, which was incredibly touristy.

I think we may have done this over three nights and not two, but I don't remember. Either way, we had fun and then went home. TRIP OVER.
