Italy Vacation, Part 4 - Rome

5/12/15

After somehow avoiding a hangover from the night before, we were confronted by an angry Wilson who wanted to know why we left him out of all of our fun.  Hint: It's because he's a NERRRRRD.  We were picked up around 9:00 by our A&K guide and started making our way towards the most eventful stop of our day, The Pantheon.  The Pantheon has really cool dome and houses the bodies of multiple Roman kings AND A NINJA TURTLE.  Raphael is buried here.

We were picked up at the Piazza Navona where we checked out the Fountain of the Four Rivers and were then driven up to check out an excellent view of the city before finishing our tour at the Piazza Barberini.  Speaking of fountains, you may have noticed that I do not mention the Trevi Fountain.  It was under construction, so I now consider it dumb and not worth talking about.

There are a ton of fountains in Rome.
Like at least 7.  Actually 2000+.
After lunch, we headed to the Galleria Borghese which is a museum located inside a massive park.  The most famous piece we saw was Bernini's The Rape of Proserpine.  It was a cool statue and all, but it was a bit rapey.  There were also some sculptures made by Ninja Turtles, so my interest was piqued.

Galleria Borghese's exterior was under construction
at the time of our visit.
I had to turn around in the park and go find everyone
since they walk SO DAMN SLOW.
We decided to catch an opera after dinner on our last night in Rome.  It wasn't a full show, but rather a collections of famous songs.  It was pretty neat.  There was a bar and I felt fancy.
There are our learning faces.
Monocles on.  The opera is about to begin.

On the balcony away from the peasants below.
